Luckily, DriveThruRPG ended up doing a sale of Demon stuff a while back, so I was able to pick up the supplements I was interested in and see for myself. Still, the game has its advocates, and part of me wondered whether the subsequent supplements released in 20 (prior to the Classic World of Darkness being shut down in 2004) did anything to resolve the muddle of the core book. Frankly, if this isn’t true, then it’s kind of embarrassing for everyone involved, because only an awful crisis like that could possibly excuse the state the core book is in. I hear tell that the lead developer actually had a health crisis during the making of the game, making them unable to complete the manuscript by the deadline and forcing White Wolf to make someone else step in and fill out all the Lores in a hurry. It only talks in katakana in the Japanese version.I’ve reviewed the core book of Demon: the Fallen elsewhere, and come to the conclusion that it’s a fun game weighed down by a horrendously rushed core book with a terrible signal-to-noise ratio and rules which clearly weren’t finished when the game went to press (to the extent that they actively contradict one another at times).Later, Guy and Naruto travel to his cave and seeing that the demon is not around, Guy pretends to become possessed by Black Shadow, although his act does not fool Naruto even after Guy is defeated and claims that he needs more training because his mind was so overpowered by the demon. He can only be killed by the flowers from the Tree of Life. Naruto Uzumaki later killed it and the village changed its name to the Tree Revival Village. He lived in a cave in the Tree Felling Village and required a sacrifice to keep himself appeased. He also appeared to have immense physical strength, as one slash from his paw sent Naruto flying back several feet and in another case, he created several fissures through direct contact with the ground. Another notable abilities of Black Shadow were shooting flying spikes that home in on their foe, creating wooden tentacles that burst from the ground through impaling his tail, splitting into smaller forms (be it a number of his humanoid forms or a pack of fast and agile wolf-like creatures that must be destroyed in order to force him to reform), teleporting, performing the Bringer-of-Darkness Technique, and generating a crystalline near-impregnable barrier to block a section of Tree Felling Village's cave. He could also summon a large number of shadow ninja for combat assistance. For example, he could employ darkness to restrain a person which apparently so powerful that no mortal was able to escape it. True to his namesake, Black Shadow possessed numerous shadow-based abilities. He also has a set of large wings and a long brown tail.īlack Shadow with a summoned crystal barrier. In his true form, Black Shadow appeared as a giant wolf with five eyes, two heads, and six legs. He had tiny yellow dots for eyes, and hair coming out from the robe. At first, Black Shadow took the form of a short, stocky man in a long blue and white robe.
