All of these moments work well, but like I said, one of my favorite running gags, along the lines of Mr. Ratburn out in the woods and Binky freaking out and claiming he wants to hit the escape button and quit the game (which the episode cuts back to this at the end and reveals it was just Francine and Muffy coming to join them), the game having every third option being to do the hokey pokey, Sue Ellen claiming she needs to take a trip to the doctor's after hurting her hand practicing martial arts while telling Brain she doesn't want to go on the camping trip, Buster mistaking Ratburn driving the boys as Prunella and asking how she learned to drive, and the ending where everyone is about to be attacked by a bear and everyone takes the game's advice and does the hokey pokey to fend it off. The funniest moments for me here include the opening that starts with something approaching the boys and Mr. It's one of those episodes that's more centered on comedy than story, and the humor works pretty well here, including the debut of one of my favorite running gags on the show. It's a mostly ensemble episode with Brain being the closest to a central character, and I feel it uses the characters pretty well, and no one (including Muffy and Francine) really makes it so it's hard to watch. This was one of my favorite episodes when I was younger, and while I might not like it quite as much as I did in the past, it is still a very entertaining episode. got into it and won all the time), but I am very glad it returned here because this is a really good episode. Review: It’s been a while since we've gotten one of these kinds of episode pairs where the second episode builds off the first one (where everyone moves on to a new game because the old one isn't fun to play anymore once D.W. It's far from the best Arthur story ever, but I had a good time with this one, and I think it adds up to a solid episode.īasic Plot: The kids become obsessed with a new goose game and Brain tries to get his friends to join him on a camping trip after he loses early on in the game.

being the person who does the best on Virtual Goose was a fun touch. hang out with each other as they're not two characters who interact with each other that much and D.W. Ratburn noting Sue Ellen's answer of "red" in class, and saying that would be the answer if he asked what color her cheeks were turning, the random live-action shot, Sue Ellen imagining Francine turning into a goose, and the whole subplot with Arthur making deals with D.W. There's some moments I found to be funny such as Buster thinking FourHand451 (which turns out to be Emily) is a sheep with four hands, Mr. The game is cool and I like that it turns out it's just a virtual version of a board game D.W. I appreciate having focus on Sue Ellen and seeing her trying to break her addiction to Virtual Goose I thought was fun. He sounds the part and gets the character's overall personality down well, which is important because I don't think the actors past him are super strong.Īs for the episode itself, while it's far from the most substantive episode ever, I had a pretty fun time with it. Michael Yarmush no longer voices Arthur and the actor who plays him for the next three seasons is Mark Rendall (I know season 6 originally had a different actor playing Arthur in its original run named Justin Bradley, but those episodes tend to be hard to find and all the season 6 episodes I watched featured Mark Rendall as Arthur), and honestly, I think he's a pretty good Arthur. The rest of the pre-flash animation seasons uses this style of animation which makes the show's colors overall brighter and more vibrant, which is especially noticeable on characters like Binky who is much brighter-looking than before, and I think the animation in these seasons is generally pretty good. Review: Starting season 6 off brings us two things to note, those being a change in animation and a new voice actor for Arthur. I remember that being the case, but let's see if that stills hold true.Įpisode 86A: "Sue Ellen Gets Her Goose Cooked"īasic Plot: Sue Ellen becomes obsessed with a video game called Virtual Goose, and tries to break her addiction to it.

Considering season 5 didn't thrill me as much as previous seasons, I'm hoping this season will be an improvement. Welcome back to another part of my attempt to review every episode of Arthur! Here, I'll be talking about season 6 and my thoughts on all these episodes.
